DAY 02
Ancient Anuradhapura by Bicycle & Candlelight

Journey north to Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s first ancient capital and one of the great archaeological wonders of the world. Overnight at Ulagalla by Uga Escapes.

DAY 03
Polonnaruwa by Bicycle, Dambulla & Local Crafts

Cycle through the magnificent medieval city of Polonnaruwa – another UNESCO World Heritage Site – discovering colossal Buddha statues, royal bathing pools and carved stone temples rising from the surrounding jungle. The evening brings a visit to the spectacular Dambulla Cave Temple, its five painted shrines luminous in fading light, followed by a hands-on session at a local handicraft workshop celebrating traditional Sri Lankan artisanship. Overnight at Lavendish Lake Giritale.

DAY 04
Sacred Kandy, the Tooth Relic & Night Walk

Arrive in Kandy, Sri Lanka’s cultural capital, for an immersive afternoon in the Sacred City. Visit the revered Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, home to Buddhism’s most venerated relic, before exploring the surrounding royal complex. As darkness settles over the hills, a peaceful night walk around the illuminated Kandy Lake reveals the city in a quietly magical, unhurried light. Overnight at Kings Pavilion.

DAY 05
Into the Knuckles Mountain Range

Leave Kandy behind and venture into the wild, mist-wrapped Knuckles Mountain Range – a UNESCO-designated biodiversity hotspot of extraordinary natural beauty. Spend the day immersed in nature: crossing rocky streams, discovering hidden waterfalls, spotting endemic birds and butterflies flitting through ancient cloud forest. The Knuckles rewards those who enter it slowly and with attention – every turn reveals something quietly extraordinary. Overnight at The Feel Luxury Boutique Hotel.

DAY 06
Ramboda Falls, Tea Plucking & Nuwara Eliya

Wind upward through the central highlands with a spectacular stop at the multi-tiered Ramboda Waterfall, one of Sri Lanka’s most dramatic cascades plunging through jungle rock. Continue to a working tea estate where you join the pluckers in the field, fingers moving through the neat rows of tea before touring the factory floor and sitting down to a guided highland tasting. Overnight at Norwood Bungalow.

DAY 07
Horton Plains, World's End & Gregory Lake

Rise early for the drive to Horton Plains National Park – a haunting, wind-swept plateau of cloud forest and grassland unlike anywhere else in Sri Lanka. The hike to World’s End is extraordinary: the plateau suddenly drops away in a sheer 870-metre cliff face, revealing valleys far below. Return to Nuwara Eliya for a gentle, restorative evening stroll along the shores of Gregory Lake. Overnight at Norwood Bungalow.

DAY 08
Highland Train, Adventure Sports & Udawalawe

Board the iconic highland train at Nanu Oya for one of Asia’s most celebrated rail journeys through mist-threaded tea estates and mountain valleys. Arrive in Ella for optional abseiling, zip-lining or quad biking through the jungle before the drive south via the thundering Ravana Waterfall, steeped in Ramayana legend, and onward through the dry lowlands to Udawalawe as the landscape transforms dramatically. Overnight at Dhalaya Resort Udawalawe.

DAY 09
Udawalawe Safari & Sinharaja Rainforest

Dawn breaks over the Udawalawe plains as your jeep enters the national park – famous for its extraordinary elephant population, with herds of dozens frequently sighted around the great reservoir. After the safari, the drive to Sinharaja takes you deep into the southwest’s ancient interior, where Sri Lanka’s last significant lowland rainforest awaits – a UNESCO World Heritage Site of breathtaking biodiversity. Overnight at The Rainforest Ecolodge or Sinharaja Kurulu Ella Eco.

DAY 10
Sinharaja Guided Walk & Arrival in Galle

A guided walk into the ancient heart of Sinharaja with an expert naturalist reveals a world of extraordinary complexity – endemic birds like the blue magpie and red-faced malkoha flit through the canopy, purple-faced langurs peer down from above and rare amphibians hide in the leaf litter below. Emerge from the forest enriched and humbled before the drive to elegant Galle and a well-earned rest. Overnight at Amangalla.

DAY 11
Galle Fort, Maritime Museum & Rampart Sunset

Spend a full, deeply satisfying day exploring Galle Fort – a UNESCO World Heritage Site where four centuries of layered colonial history breathe through every coral-stone wall and cobblestone lane. Visit the fascinating National Maritime Museum, browse independent art galleries and boutique designers along Pedlar Street, then time your evening walk along the ancient ramparts perfectly for one of the south coast’s most magnificent sunsets. Overnight at Amangalla.

DAY 12
Leisurely Galle, Beach, Turtles & Seafood Dinner

The final full day belongs entirely to pleasure. Spend the morning on a beautiful nearby beach, swimming in warm, clear water and snorkelling above coral gardens teeming with reef fish. An optional visit to a local turtle hatchery offers a moving conservation experience before the evening returns you to Galle Fort for a long, celebratory fresh seafood dinner in one of its finest restaurants. Overnight at Amangalla.
