DAY 01
Arrival & Coastal Welcome in Negombo

A Ceylon Escape Holidays representative greets you at Bandaranaike International Airport for a warm and seamless welcome. The short drive north delivers you to the relaxed coastal town of Negombo, where the rest of the day belongs entirely to you. Stretch out on the beach, drift in the hotel pool or simply exhale after the long flight. Overnight at The Walawwa.

DAY 02
Transfer to Wilpattu & Afternoon Safari

After breakfast, head north into the ancient wilderness of Wilpattu National Park – Sri Lanka’s largest and one of its least visited, a hauntingly beautiful landscape of natural lakes, dense forest and open scrubland. An afternoon jeep safari reveals the park’s extraordinary cast of wildlife: leopards, sloth bears, elephants and a diversity of birdlife in near-complete solitude. Overnight at Taru Villas Villu Wilpattu.

DAY 03
Dawn Safari & Ancient Anuradhapura

Rise before first light for an early morning safari through Wilpattu’s misty forest tracks – the golden hour is prime time for leopard sightings as the park stirs to life. Continue to Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s ancient capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for visits to the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi tree, the magnificent Ruwanweliseya Dagoba and the towering ruins of Jetavanaramaya. Overnight at Ulagalla by Uga Escapes.

DAY 04
Sigiriya Rock Fortress & Dambulla Cave Temple

Transfer into the heart of the Cultural Triangle for one of the great days of the itinerary. Climb the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a 5th-century palace complex perched atop a 200-metre volcanic plug, complete with ancient frescoes and a colossal lion paw gateway. As the afternoon cools, explore the magnificent Dambulla Cave Temple, its five painted shrines glowing with centuries of devotion. Overnight at Jetwing Vil Uyana.

DAY 05
Village Life, Kandy & the Sacred Tooth Relic

Ease into the morning with an authentic Sigiriya village experience, a gentle bullock cart ride through paddy fields, a peaceful canoe glide across the reservoir and a warm home-cooked traditional lunch with a local family. Continue to Kandy, Sri Lanka’s cultural capital, for an evening visit to the revered Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, followed by a colourful Kandyan cultural dance performance. Overnight at The Kandy House.

DAY 06
Tea Country, Factory Tour & Nuwara Eliya

Wind up through the central highlands on a scenic drive that transforms the landscape from tropical greenery to endless carpets of manicured tea. Visit a working plantation to walk the plucking fields and tour the factory floor from withering tray to finished leaf, ending with a guided tasting. Explore the cool colonial charm of Nuwara Eliya, strolling around Gregory Lake as the highland mist rolls in. Overnight at Ceylon Tea Trails – Norwood Bungalow.

DAY 07
The Highland Train, Nine Arch Bridge & Ella

Board the celebrated Nanu Oya train for one of Asia’s most iconic rail journeys, a slow, mist-threaded wind through tea estates, mountain tunnels and cascading waterfalls. Arrive in Ella and head straight to the magnificent Nine Arch Bridge before a photo stop at the thundering Ravana Falls, steeped in ancient Ramayana legend. Adventure seekers can round off the afternoon with abseiling, zip-lining or quad biking. Overnight at 98 Acres Resort & Spa.

DAY 08
Little Adam's Peak & Arugam Bay

Begin the morning with a rewarding hike to Little Adam’s Peak as sunrise floods the Ella valley in golden light and mist clings to the surrounding ridges. Then cross the island on a scenic four-hour drive to Arugam Bay – Sri Lanka’s legendary surf town on the east coast, where the atmosphere is immediately, infectiously relaxed. Settle into the laid-back beach village rhythm as the warm Indian Ocean beckons. Overnight at The Spice Trail.

DAY 09
Surfing, Beach Life & Elephant Rock Sunset

Arugam Bay is one of Asia’s premier surf destinations and today it is yours to enjoy fully. Beginners can take a lesson with a local instructor on the gentle inside break, while experienced surfers head to the main point. As the day winds down, make the short drive to Elephant Rock, a dramatic coastal outcrop that frames one of Sri Lanka’s most spectacular and fiery ocean sunsets. Overnight at The Spice Trail.

DAY 10
Kumana National Park Safari

Venture south from Arugam Bay to the remote and rewarding Kumana National Park, a vast wetland wilderness that forms part of the greater Yala ecosystem. Kumana is outstanding for birdlife – painted storks, spoonbills, herons and rare migrants gather in extraordinary numbers around the ancient tank. Elephants, leopards and water buffalo roam the surrounding scrubland. Return to Arugam Bay in the afternoon with binoculars full of memories. Overnight at The Spice Trail.

DAY 11
Transfer to Yala & Afternoon Leopard Safari

The morning drive from Arugam Bay to Yala traces a wild and beautiful coastal route through the island’s deep south. Check into your luxury tented lodge before an exhilarating afternoon jeep safari in Yala National Park – home to one of the highest densities of leopards anywhere on earth. Elephants, crocodiles, sloth bears and peacocks complete a wildlife cast that few national parks anywhere can rival. Overnight at Chena Huts by Uga Escapes.

DAY 12
Galle Fort, Ramparts & the South Coast

The scenic drive west along the southern coast delivers you to Galle – Sri Lanka’s most atmospheric colonial city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A guided walk through the old Dutch fort reveals cobblestone lanes, colonial churches, boutique galleries and the iconic lighthouse perched above crashing waves. The afternoon is spent at leisure on the golden sands of Unawatuna or the secluded coves of Jungle Beach. Overnight at Fort Bazaar.
